Oh when I say I played it last year, I meant I replayed it, had the game since release.
almost 25 years later and my old save files were still here, but a strange thing happened while I was near the end of the game: powering on the megadrive I noticed all my saves just had been erased except for the new one? After that incident I copied my new save file on all four slots, but didn't get another issue and could finish the game properly
