I do appreciate the Adam Warren art, but I remember first reading about 3 from Gamers' Republic. I do sort of miss Psygnosis because they did master using the PS1 hardware.

I missed out. I had no idea with the newer stuff. Thanks for the great information. I did get Omega Collection for the VR (which I've not played yet) and was hoping that included all that I had missed of the series since the original Playstation.

It is a nice almost-standard controller, not taking up as much room as a steering wheel. It's main feature is its twisting controls and a few games do support it, even Ridge Racer 5 on PS2. I remember it works real well with Rage Racer as that is what I played most with the controller.

Sure, for the novelty of using it on a PS2 game, after Rage Racer.

The force feedback is basically the tightness and the dial fighting back a bit through turns. I use it with both hands in the grips and steering with my thumbs on the 10-and-2. Once in a while the force feedback needs to recenter which means you'll have to pause the game for a second, which others may find a disruption to the gameplay, but I do not mind as it is a quick pause count to three, then unpause. The only uncomfortable part is the lip just to accommodate the L2 and R2 buttons which the middle fingers rub up against, which I think could be alleviated if they did what Hori did with the mini Playstation pads with an inner and outer shoulder bumper rather than maintain the shoulder bumper placement of stock controllers. I think there may have been potential for the controller to be used like a dial for a Tempest 2000 game, which no one ever capitalized on.

I don't think of it in terms of better or worse. The NeGCon is supported by more games, and the JogCon does need the games paused every now and then to recalibrate and tighten itself, but they provide different feeling of controls. I did play R4 a lot with the JogCon and it feels great aside from the bit of plastic without a smooth curve to accommodate having a L2 and R2 buttons. R4 is designed easier to cater for those who use the less precise JogCon, but it has that steering wheel sensating where it can fight against you a bit on curves.

I think the NegCon is pretty cool. A lot of analog buttons and a unique and interesting way to play games like Rage Racer by twisting a controller. Some game expereinces are interesting because of thier unique input method, like DDR with a dance pad. Sure one could be more accurate with a standard controller, but driving games with a steering wheel and pedals feel great in my opinion. There are enough keys on a keyboard, but a flight stick can enhance the immersion in Tie Fighter. The NeGcon works especially well for games like Rage Racer to initiate and maintain drifts, or soem fine analog turning in Wipeout XL. As someone already mentioned, it seems like you've no real interest in it if you're already considering selling it away.

For R4, I used the JogCon. The NeGCon I used for Rage Racer and Wipeout games. The JogCon is nice since it sort of turns and fights you a bit with some resistance. I figure it would work better with R4, since it game with the game.

Those are the games with Nagase Reiko in them that I have. The character convinces me to give them a try.

I think it is pretty cool. I've only ever used it on Rage Racer, these Wipeout games, and Ridge Racer 4-5. I think the NeGCon adds some extra spice to playing the games and worth giving a try.

I think the hardest game for me to find was the Japanese Sega Saturn release of WWF In Your House.

What does the special edition add?

I haven't played any in the franchise beyond these two (and the demo of the first game that came with my original Playstation). Any of the non-/vr/ ones worth a try?

I remember that poster. You make me regret tossing out the first couple years of my Nintendo Power subscription. I initially didn't like Nintendo Power as I preferred the nice free issues of the Nintendo Fun Club more in those days. I also felt the writing, reviews, and singular focus on just Nintendo made me mistakenly decide that those should be the first things I toss out alongside my older computers when moving.

I haven't hung any posters on my walls since I was a kid. Maybe one day when I get a stable enough home I would consider some form of décor with maybe one or two things worth hanging up.

Hah! Sadly I got drafted into the wrong side of that fight. I'd so prefer that Euro cover so much more.
