Ehh, I'm quite sure they're not connected. Wild Arms is just like Final Fantasy in the sense that there's a list of tropes that will appear in every game - a decaying/desolate Filgaia being one of them.

Though if you still feel that way maybe you would watch the Wild Arms animu which borrows elements from both of first two games.

As long as we're bringing Chinese cartoons into the conversation, Twilight Venom is legitimately great. I showed it to one from who is pretty big into anime and it instantly shot up to #4 on his favorites list.
