The short answer is yes I like it, but there are certain things that really rev up my autism. The face buttons are hands down the best I've ever used on a handheld, but I dislike how fucking THICC the grip on this thing is. The 3 button Genesis controller was already thiccer than I prefer, but this puts that to shame. I swear this fills my hands more the my Steam Deck does.

It's playable if you really want often hovering at or close to fullspeed, but there are a lot of dips and audio crackles/stutters that really kill the smoothness the game is supposed to have.

The d-pad IS very good, it has to be my favorite d-pad I've used on a handheld outside maybe the one on the Vita. Unfortunately it still gets mogged pretty hard imo by the Saturn dpad. There are still things about it, such as the texture of the d-pad itself and the fact it sits so fucking high comparatively, that bug me. I've gotten used to it after playing around on it a bit, but it's something I would change in a follow-up along with making the thing thinner. The shoulder buttons are actually fine. I thought the hinge aspect was going to kill them for me, but nah it ended up not bugging me and they feel good to press. They're very soft, not clicky, and have a surprising amount of travel.

In MAME I do, but that's true for my other handhelds as well. For games that require a diamond formation, number 2 (or 3 if you're playing snes) here is good and easy to swap to. I tried Crazy Taxi 2 like that and was surprised how fantastic sliding and boosting felt on this layout unfortunately the game ran like complete shit
