>The core system that drives the gameplay revolves around monsters' stats being generated based on the mean average of your party's level and modifying it. Therefore it is pointless levelling or grinding anything other than drawable magic, because magic modifies a character's stats without changing their level.
That's what makes it good, grinding is retarded. FF8 lets you become stronger by exploring the world and searching for rare items and magics, beating optional GFs in the side quests, deciding what abilities to learn and using them strategically. And playing the card game.
