As an aside I find it kind of funny how he shoots the gun without even lifting it. Game Over'd twice after Lurch guy, might try again later

If you want a better run 'n gun just play SEGA CD Terminator. Or better yet if you like the Bond FPS games check out Zero Tolerance on Genesis, has nothing to do with Bond but is still super fun

Try Terminator for SEGA CD or Dolphin Blue for Atomiswave/Dreamcast. Or I guess Metal Slug. Personally I like Rapid Reload but to each his own I guess

Play Terminator instead OP. Not as difficult and a better game in general

Of you want another fun platformer go for Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure or something, totally different style but still a very fun game

That's funny, it's an NES game that almost looks like a ZX Spectrum game with that palette. Needless to say the SEGA CD version is still excellent

Anything by Virgin, Rareware, Midway, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Neversoft. EA and Activision were also making great stuff back then

I like my Japanese games but weebs these days are doin it wrong, you need a nice mix of both to really enjoy most consoles

>Outside of those I've been going through niche/sub-cult titles like chibi robo, mario golf n64. stuff I wouldn't usually play but am finding myself surprisingly enjoying. I'd say try something new OP that you wouldn't usually go for.
This is more my speed. Been playing mostly SEGA CD, TurboGrafx-CD, and Saturn titles for the past few years and recently got into 3DO and Dreamcast. There's a lot of really good standalone titles (like The Terminator on SEGA CD, Starblade, Lords of Thunder etc.) that aren't part of a bigger series but still well worth playing

I've been meaning to play Dolphin Blue for Atomiswave. Right now pic related is still my favorite, probably followed by Rapid Reload for PlayStation

I wish there were more of them outside of the usual Contra and Metal Slug games. My favorite is probably The Terminator for SEGA CD, but I also really like what I played of Rapid Reload on PS1.

>>10139928
I agree that they're harder for sure. It would be really cool to see some of these mechanics (like bonus points for grazing a bullet) in other genres like platformers.

The Terminator is pretty good, probably even better imo, but nobody would know that from just glancing at it. I think Rondo is only popular because it's Castlevania and most people can't name a single other Turbo CD game (which is sad because it isn't even the best one on there imo)

Sometimes I wonder if TurboGrafx was also kind of planned to have CD's from the start. The fact that HuCards came in jewel cases seems to allude to that.
