But who in their right mind can regard RE4 and after as part of the series, really..

That may be, but I still dont feel its anything like the original game. The crimson masks and the troll girl from 1965 just completely takes it away from being believable as the same "universe". I did like it tho, got a great vibe, just didn't fell Resident Evil to me.. On top of this the Wesker deal.

So I guess my point is,
if your'e new to the RE games, you should play the original 3 games first (Resident Evil 1, 2, 3) if you want the story as they first told it..
(which to me is far superior to the "alternate line" as in REmake, Zero, CV, 4, 5, 6 etc).

If you want a more modern take on it or whatever I should call it, start with Zero or REmake.
