This boss is only hard as Sonic or Tails if you're impatient. The complaints are justified for Knuckles though.

I reached this area multiple times but couldn't figure out how to hit Robotnik. Then my Genesis broke when I was 10 or so. Fast forward to college and I beat it on the Gamecube Mega Collection.

When I was a kid I played this game all the time. My sister and I would play multiplayer co-op.

One afternoon we had some neighbors over and decided to try to beat the game instead of getting bored after an hour or two (I was probably 7 at the time). Eventually we get to space for the final confrontation on an enormous space station. It really blew my mind at the time.
