USB-C is DP, so a USB-C to DP adapter (just a passive cable or adapter) and then a Rankie DP to VGA one, Rankie ones have good shielding and are confirmed to do 240p and 120Hz+ and cost less than 10 bucks. You could test random USB-C to VGA adapters too, the chips are usually the same, might get lucky.
