there's generally been three types of posts brought up for Demonsteele:
either "ew anime you must be weeaboos to like it", which is just blatant shitposting on a board with a heavy influence in japanese culture (even on /vr/, where most of the old retro games we love were japanese)
or blatantly inventing things out of whole cloth just to get angry about, which is (again) blatant shitposting
or "it's not really fun" or "it's not my thing", which are not shitposts but have been very much in the minority

demonsteele will never reach brutal doom's status of a community splitter because demonsteele is not wrestling with the same stigmas brutal doom has.
demonsteele is not trying to be a supplement to the original doom, demonsteele will not be called "doomier than doom", demonsteele will never be considered a replacement or "souped up version of" the original doom, and even if you don't like it, people will generally be able to understand why you don't like it.
too unlike traditional doom gameplay? yeah, it's definitely not a doom-style mod.
think it needs its own maps? yeah, that'd be really cool to have.
don't like hacking and slashing, want to gun things down? yeah, guns are cool, here's some alternatives.
