I asked my friends/family and none of them are interested in old technology. None are willing to store it for me until I get back onto my feet due to its bulk. Storage units are way too expensive and I cannot adopt more debt at the moment. I am still exploring avenues, but my friend with a SUV was willing to take the day off work to help me move it to the recycle center and assist with my move.

USA. CRT TVs have a lot of dangerous components and the waste management contractors will not dispose of them anymore. It is a price to dispose of them here.

I am still looking for a good Famicom cartridge to NES adapter for this. This retro console plays a lot of my most favorite games even without that adapter.

There are two primary factors in doing so. The primary one is related to the cost, as I cannot afford the games nor systems like the One X and PS4. The other reason being that I like to come back to good games I liked and they are worth replaying as I find them enjoyable.

I like how this board is set up for its cutoff date as I am one of the few that enjoy Sega games and their arcade/console titles. I still can enjoy old Windows 7 games and games on the Wii-U. Microsoft has been a great replacement, but Sega disappearing from the games market is a good bookend.

I am in the same boat too, OP. At this time around here takeout still being allowed is the only reason I have 20 hours a week. I am considering the long drive to the closest Amazon Fulfillment center or employment at the town Walmart, but those options may expose me to more people. I guess I can hang onto my emulation machine, but it will be tough to get rid of the Chinese flashcarts, with the extreme stigma following Chinese products.

I wish I had known this link. As I recently decided to Aliexpress some bootlegs for my bootleg machine pictured here (as I will not have bootlegs touch my actual machines). I have been having fun with Panorama Cotton, which is nice for $3 shipped, but a really cheap bootleg everdrive will suffice for this crap machine.

Dammit, they were the primary place to get Treamcast systems, wish I had known back then that I would want a Treamcast now (for the sweet controllers).

I have a co-worker who has family in China. Wonder how I can tell her to do me a favor. As legit everdrives sound nice, but Google says 1USD=6.95 Chinese Yuan so it is almost 50% off from krikzz prices for the Mega Everdrive X7 + SD2SNES ... tempting, but now I will really have to save.

I decided to take the plunge and give the Chinese bootlegs a try. I purchased this monstrosity for the sole reason when I do not want a bootleg touching any of my 7 Genesis/Mega Drives (and as a temporary NES, until I can afford on that HDMI or RGB). For $23 shipped, I am going to experiment if I can have any satisfaction with a stack of bootlegs by this machine: Mega Man: The Wily Wars, Twinkle Tale, Panorama Cotton, Pulseman, and Battlemania: Daijinjou. As prices for even Genesis games, which no one wants, surprisingly rise and a X7 Everdrive is out of my affordability range (the added features seem really cool, like large hacks, potential FM sound for Master System, and be a SegaCD backup cart).

It is risky dealing with Chinks but the Genesis was the poverty system and they will find I have nothing to steal. I will report back in a couple months (assuming they do arrive in that time) if a bootleg setup is comfy to me.

I regretted my purchase of one. However, someone on another thread here on /vr/ introduced me to $5-shipped repro cartridges, which may give me some justification for it (I cannot afford everdrives). However, I do need something to play my NES games since I already have a few but the main system died. Furthermore, I do like the two SNES-shaped Genesis controllers it includes (the start and select buttons are not rounded like a real SNES/SFC controller though).

Anons here do have the right to make fun of me for having one of these, but when you're poor a RetroUSB AVS with Everdrive N8 is only a dream. I do feel this video does reflect my opinion on the system well enough: https://youtu.be/i9y12oIwCE0

Oh! Yes I see them there, cheap/free shipping too! I will put this thing to good use now (I don't want those Chinese diseases in my actual consoles, in case the boards are thicker).

I am with most here suggesting you emulate. It is the most cost effective way to play those systems, especially if purchasing the systems is costly (and the games will cost even more).

I have a lot of systems and games that I have kept over the years, but my NES died and I did get the Super Retro Trio for its SNES shaped Genesis controllers. Also to use it for games I dare not want touching my original systems (never owned a EA game on Genesis nor SNES until recently to try out Mutant League Football) like bootlegs. I intended the Trio to me my "treat like shit" console, but I really haven't used it. At this point I kind of wished I never got it, but there was no RetroUSB AVS nor NESmini announced at that time. It's not like it has any worth, so I cannot sell it to put it towards one of those, but I've been strangely enjoying Combat Cars lately on it (another game I do not want touching my original hardware, pretty good for $3+tax, and surprisingly decent Genesis music).

One thing of note, most here seem to mix up the Super Retro Trio with the Retron 5. Since the Retron 5 is the Android-based emulation machine and the Super Retro Trio is just clone hardware (Nintendo-on-a-chip). Perhaps this video can explain things a bit better: https://youtu.be/i9y12oIwCE0

A while back I got a clone console, just for really shitty games I wouldn't let my normal systems touch (basically games that I am testing which are not my own). It came with two Genesis (DB9) controllers that feels a lot like SNES controllers. It is 85% like the real thing, but I can still tell with the start and select (mode) buttons not rounded, and the Y (Genesis A) and X (Genesis Y) buttons need to be a bit smoother being my only hints for a blind test. The old large 3-button Genesis pads had different revisions, the early ones had that inflexible D-pad, but later ones were a lot better; I think one can tell with the method/color of the button labeling. However, the authentic Genesis 6-button controllers are 2nd only to the Sega Saturn pads for me. The Hyperkin GN6 controllers are 95% close to the actual Genesis 6-button controllers (I can somehow feel the cheaper rubber/silicone conductive pads inside, cheaper with less material inside, and non-textured D-pad plastic).

I bought so I can plug in some Everdrives. Then I realized if I could ever afford an Everdrive, I wouldn't want to place them into this machine when I have 7 actual Genesis/Mega Drives that could be plugged into or one of my 4 SNES/SFC. I already have a (not retro) Gameboy player for the Gamecube. So, I only got this to treat repros or bootlegs I get like shit. At least the 2 SNES-styled Genesis controllers are nice.
