Adding the GBA opens the floodgates to "why aren't the Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 allowed?" That will then open the floodgates to "why aren't the DS and Xbox 360 allowed?" The line needs to be drawn somewhere.

Allowing the GBA opens the door to people asking about the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube since they came out the same year as the GBA. Allowing the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube opens the door to people asking about the DS and Xbox 360 because they came out when the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube were still relevant.

It would also open the door to threads like pic related. The line has to be drawn somewhere.

Allow GBA only, rest of 6th gen can wait a few more years.

Pic related, I don't want these type of shitters polluting /vr/ if we allow the rest of the 6th gen. The GBA won't bring these type of fags because of the type of library it has i.e. mainly retro-style games and smaller titles.

Except that's exactly what happened by allowing the Dreamcast.

>Why isn't the Dreamcast allowed? It was released in 1999!
>Why isn't the GBA allowed? It was released in 2001 when the Dreamcast was still alive!
>Why aren't the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube allowed? They were released in 2001 when the GBA was!
>Why isn't the DS allowed? It was released when the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, and GBA were all still getting games!
>Why isn't the Xbox 360 allowed? It was released a year after the DS was!
>Why aren't the PS3 and Wii allowed? They were released the year after the Xbox 360 and while the DS was still getting games!

Do you see the fucking pattern here?

Also, look at the image attached to this post to see what kinds of threads you'd be inviting on to /vr/.

If /vr/ allows those consoles, people will start asking why the DS isn't retro because "it came out during the 6th gen." If the DS is allowed, people will ask why the Xbox 360 isn't allowed, because "it came out during the 6th generation and came out a year after the DS." If the Xbox 360 is allowed, people will ask why the Wii and PS3 aren't allowed, because "they came out a year after the Xbox 360 and the DS was still alive then!"

This will happen because this is how the Dreamcast was allowed onto /vr/, people kept complaining about it due to the cutoff date.

The line must be drawn or else /vr/ is pointless. In other words, shut the fuck up.

>Why don't we define the other three as retro?
Because allowing them will cause things like pic related to happen frequently.

>You can't talk about that shit on /v/
Yes you can.

>The rules are shit and need to be changed.

Why should they be changed? They were changed to allow the Dreamcast and that resulted in people saying the GBA should be allowed because it "feels retro." If the GBA is allowed, people will ask for the rest of the 6th generation of consoles because they were released in the same year as the GBA. You do realize that would lead to threads about games like Persona 4 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, right? If the 6th gen gets allowed, people will ask for the Xbox 360 and DS to be allowed because they were released while the 6th generation was still in full-swing. Et cetera, et cetera.

So why change the rules? Because you say so? I think you just want to take advantage of /vr/ being a slower-moving board because the topics you create aren't interesting enough to spur discussion on /v/. Instead of being a good poster you'd rather create yet another one of these threads on /vr/ that causes nothing but ire, but maybe you're just fishing for replies and you don't care how you get them or what tone they carry.

I'm fine with allowing GBA discussion and agree with >>2796227. Allowing systems on /vr/ shouldn't strictly be an age thing, it should be on a case-by-case basis.

With the GBA, you can argue the following points for its allowance here:
>The system follows the design philosophies and styles of other retro systems (namely the 16-bit generation).
>Support for the system died off earlier than expected thanks to the DS. It last major games came out in 2006.
>There's not much potential for shitposting. Pic related is what would happen if we allowed unmoderated discussion for all 6th gen systems on here. In comparison, there's not much for people to shitpost about in regards to the GBA.

I'm also somewhat in favor in allowing discussion of the OG Xbox here because of these same reasons: It died off very early (2005) and there's a lack of potential topics for people to shitpost about (outside of Halo threads). But it's a stretch and the GBA is the far better option for the time being.
