I can remember myself playing it for all my school vacation. Nostalgic.

What was the idea behind its development? Was it like "Crash is a detailed corridor platformer and Croc is a tiny room platformer, so let's make an incredibly open and sparse "running" platformer"?

I ask because it is a very desolate game that never develops. It's just a series very wide, empty rooms. You run from one end to the other to interact with a thing or jump on a platform or collect a couple collectibles. Then you run to the other end. Then you go through a narrow corridor to the next wide open room with nothing in it.

It is so joyless and the end of the game features the exact same level "design" as the beginning, just with a different color palette. I get the PSX was limited but come on.
