I cannot perform even the most basic of combos in street fighter wtf

I am playing as Chun Li on my SNES Mini

I know that for a Kikouken it is back -> forward -> punch, but the game never lets me do it wtf

Pick a game that was released on both SNES and Genesis/Mega Drive. Now post what you believe is the superior version and why.

I'll start with an easy one. Better sound (doesn't sound like a garbled mess), slighty better visuals and better controls (unless you use an alt controller, then they're pretty samey).
