Watch out dudes. The badass Kiddy Kong is here from the most hardcore teenage game ever.

Imagine some kid begging for this from their parents expecting something fucking badass like the gorilla in the poster, then discovering the game is actually about a girl and a baby.

I don’t know that I hate it. But if you really think about it DKC 3 was kind of a Christmas 1996 throwaway game for Walmart shoppers.

People couldn't handle the wild child.

DKC3 has most of what made the series good, but has a few issues that really kill it for me:

1. Heavily nerfed platforming physics that make the Kongs feel super heavy and hard to control compared to 2. Air speed is heavily nerfed, making it difficult to control yourself in the air. It's most noticeable in areas where you have to alternately jump left and right to climb a screen (like in mountain levels). In 2, you would be able to jump immediately upon landing without problem, but in three you have to awkwardly turn around and gain speed on each platform before jumping. It kinda reminds me of the jumping controls in Mario Bros. arcade.

2. Over-reliance on stage gimmicks.
Sometimes it's really cool but the bad ones suck real bad. Reverse-control swimming, half-speed platforming, ghost barrels, lightning lookout, and the koindozer stage are all a pain to play, even when you get good at them.

3. Other physics oddities like how you can get hit out of a roll while still in the roll animation (exists somewhat in 2, but far more common in 3).

4.. The bosses are some of the most creative but also some of the most annoying. This is minor compared to the other two.
