if you naively hook ypbpr up to a monitor via one of those RGB breakout cables with appropriate BNC adapters, and it syncs but the colors are wrong, then you know that your monitor supports RGsB.

I already hate the look of 800TVL at 20", so I wouldn't recommend. Buuut if you sit far enough away that you aren't seeing more blackspace than video I guess it'd be OK.

I made a DVD 3 years ago with a lot of patterns, if you wanna use that. Or use 240p test suite. For SMPTE bars you'll want to use a new-ish system like a Wii that doesn't have a super limited palette, if you're intending to calibrate anything other than brightness/contrast.

The DVD also contains a selection of cross-hatches
