Oh I defiantly would be happy to see it come back. Maybe use a similar graphics engine even, I think that sketchy story book look would work really way for the old style

I ain't gonna say Tony Taka ain't got talent but it is really sad we lost the cool fairy tale aesthetic we used to have in favor of pure waifu bait

I was just getting to sit down and do a play through of CD myself. 3 was always a personal favorite though.

I like Shining. It's more, for want of a better term, honest.

It's a simple fairy tale about a team of good guys saving the day from bad guys. Not complex but it's got a sense of magical adventure.

Fire Emblem is just somehow both incredibly dry but also incredibly bloated. Things like the weapon triangle, perma death and RNG stat growth don't make the game more complex they make it annoying and only invite resets and memorization to cheeze your way through. It's not Xcom

If you like Strategy RPGs, that generation had some of the best in my opinion. DragonForce and Shining Force III on Saturn, Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre on Playstation, and Ogre Battle on N64.
If you want less text and menus and more hands-on action, try Bulk Slash on Saturn. It's Japanese but there is not much of a language barrier. Saturn also is a goldmine for fun shmup/STGs, btw, so if you like those you can pretty much take your pick.

Shining Wisdom is OK if you are in the mood for a zeldalike top-down action adventure game. I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for an RPG, though. I played through it once and enjoyed myself for the most part but ended up selling my copy off. The dash mechanic is annoying, I don't much care for the prerendered sprites and portraits, and Working Designs changed the proper nouns so the connections to other Shining series games get lost in translation.
Blazing Heroes is kind of bland but has its charm. Play it if you've already played all 3 Shining Force 3 scenarios and Dragon Force and you want more SRPGs to play on the Saturn.
MKR is great, but also more like that Zelda genre (4 swords adventure is similar) than an RPG. It is one of the prettiest games on the system. It's really girly, though, so if that bothers you be forewarned.
As far as traditional JRPGs in English I really liked Shining the Holy Ark and Albert Odyssey (although the ending is really unsatisfying). I really wish more Saturn RPGs got translated, but who doesn't.
