>Neither side seems to care much about the 16-bit era as much as before.
I mean, there might be a few reasons for this, changing the rules made it so more younger people joined, who are more interested in the PS1 and what came after it more than the stuff that came before, and also older people likely getting tired of having the same discussions on SNES and Genesis, and moving onto something else to discuss with one another. It's a shame.

None... emulate both of them 1st, look up the more popular titles from your favorite genres that both of their libraries offer and download their ROMs, also download ROMs for stuff you happen to be curious about, play them and then decide on which one to get, that way you'll take your decision with more certainty that it was the right one and that you'll actually play often too.

I personally prefer the Mega Drive, but I'm 100% biased as I grew up with it, my Nintendo console growing up was the NES, and while Nintendo's great, I'm more of a SEGA guy nowadays still.

If you prefer an arcade direction and love NES, I think the Mega Drive's library feels closer to that still, while SNES feels more modern and like a precursor to the PS1 and N64 in general too.

Just picked up a Genesis after two decades of not having one. Mostly wanting it for couch co-op (NOT versus.)

So far I've put together a list of games we eventually plan to pick up, but I'm curious of potential others I've inevitably missed.

World of Illusion
Toejam & Earl 1&2
Blades of Vengeance
Bio-Hazard Battle
TMNT: Hyperstone Heist
The Great Circus: Mickey & Minnie
Sunset Riders
Contra Hard Corps
Captain America and the Avengers
X-Men 2: Clone Wars
Spiderman: Separation Anxiety
Golden Axe series
Altered Beast
Arcus Odyssey
Todd's Adventures in Slime World
Mega Bomberman
Skeleton Krew
Adventures of Batman & Robin
Snake Rattle n' Roll
Battletoads & Double Dragon
Cadash
MMPR: The Movie
Streets of Rage series
Gunstar Heroes

No need to recommend Shmups, as we're fine just getting Bio-Hazard Battle. But if there's one that's just an absolute must feel free to mention it.
