The giant stone arches at the center stood strong, and they probably made sure the entire roof didn't collapse inwards.

While we're at it, anyone have some good recommendations for some nice gothic looking .wads?
Bloodstain has a whole bunch of gothic castles and cathedrals in its levels, and Deus Vult 2 I think took heavy inspiration from the Notre Dame itself for its giant satanic cathedral.
