The Gorons wanted to sneak a bite out of the ruby, and the second is probably a remnant of when it was supposed to fit into the Ocarina of Time along with the other Spiritual Stones.

I'm pretty sure they weren't said to be extinct in the final game?

Looks like you were supposed to "make a wish" or pray to open the path, which might not have meant using the ocarina. Related to the Waterfall of Wishing from ALttP?

Was he XVI in the final game or was that just Historia? I guess they left it open for ancestors to appear in games taking place earlier?

That weird underwater alcove/hole(?) in the final game is a remnant of an earlier design.

Seems like a hassle to feed him the fish at a specific time of day, glad it was removed.

Sounds like this is describing the Parasitic Tentacles, but it had the electric current of the Tailparasans, or they were possibly the same thing before being split. They were "nerves" and not extensions of Barinade.

Weirdly enough Ruto still says she'll give it to him earlier and that she's looking for it so it seems it was in the middle of being rewritten?
