That's generally enough for a decent picture. When I run into complications I do more. I don't use filters though. They're simply not necessary. I've emulated 40 different systems on my tv with retroarch. They generally look great. When I see the rare oddity I mess with the emulators settings.

Indeed, I was raised on the command line though. My first computer was a Commodore 64. When I need something I type. Just habit really. :)

It's low power consumption and working well for me. You could just install retroarch on whatever architecture you want and use whatever front end you want. Linux is very versatile. More than anything else the retropie project is just tweaked for that hardware. It's all just linux man.
