Some consoles require modding in order to get RGB(and some need it for S-Video as well) but quite a number support both straight up and just need the proper cable and a TV with the given input.

Just get a PAL SCART cable and see if you need some modifications on it to output RGB correctly. The consoles mentioned on pic related output RGB natively whatever the location is (the French PC Engine excepted).

Also, I'm joking for the eye cancer thing, but it's still pretty bad for your eyes even if you don't think it is.

>>1816905

Yup that's why I say we don't use them for that reason. Also, I had an RGB capable sony trinitron (thanks SCART).

Nope, many consoles came with RGB cables depending on the country. S-Video is a bastardized signal.

>>1816910

Nop, you can't have the exact same picture as on a good CRT. LCDs can't have a good black level, the contrasts are pale compared to the ones in a well calibrated CRT. Yeah, you might have colors that are close, but the ones on a CRT are simply better. Saying that your LCD look exactly like you old TV mean that you're using composite/RF on that old TV, thus that the picture is flawed due to the video signal you feed it. On RGB the picture is alway better than the one on an LCD.

Friendly reminder that he consoles which name appear in pic related don't need to be modded to output RGB natively.

Nice, the only thing I disagree is that good looking TVs with only RF are pretty cool for consoles made before the NES, but that's a matter of taste. Also, i think I might post this for the newcomers.

>>1568524

Of course they do, not because of lag, but because of motion quality, frame rate, colors and contrasts, which are better on a CRT.

Remember fellow CRT /vr/eaks of all age, that the consoles listed don't need a mod to output RGB!

Anyway, I got a hand on a Sony PVM 1444QM, and it has "Super Fine Pitch" under the trinitron logo. How good is that?

Updated version of >>1345956

The French version of the PC Engine (imported directly from Japan then modded by Sodipeng) output RGB natively.
