Play OpenMW with community patches.
You can literally plug your original Xbox controller into your PC, look up Xbox to PC adapters, the controllers are literally just USB and adapters passive. OpenMW has native controller support that works the same way as the console version.

I'd rather not play the original, even on PC. Everything from graphics/FPS to load times to bugs and glitches make it the worse option.

It never died. Good games are still made, just more games exist in general, so they are harder to find.

Doesn't really matter, disc quality is only relevant to longevity, your laser is gonna fail first probably and you can always re-burn discs.
Burning speed is irrelevant (only relevant to how quick you'll burn), any program that can burn .cue files will work, that's it.

OP is completely right. In fact emulation should be completely abandoned in favor of software that plays console games, but is not gimped by their lack of functionality. A prime example is ZSNES and the various superior hacks that exceed the console's capabilities. Inferior emulators may choke on those ROMs, but literally who gives a fuck?
