Practise with save your states - Not for cheating but for learning patterns and practising bosses, a lot of modern games and ports have these features built in but when it comes to using emulators you gotta save your states for practise, starting from the beginning only to die to a tough boss over and over again is only gonna make you frustrated so save a state at that boss and practise.
