Kid nikki/Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 1 and 2 are alright but maybe don't stand out among the many other action/platformers on the system, however the 3rd game is actually amazing, was never released outside of Japan though, it was a late Famicom game from 1993.

I always wanted to play those 2. I was somewhat familiar with them, but I started on Genesis with Sonic 1, it seems those games are from the days before Sonic, and I never came across them when I was a kid. I'll be sure to play them soon.

And I'll post one of my favorites, Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 3. Also known as Kid Nikki: Radical Ninja in the west, the 3rd game was never released on the NES.
It's a huge improvement over the first games, and feels like a Super Mario and Megaman hybrid.

speaking of Nikki Kid, I reccommend the 3rd one which never was released outside Japan, title is Kaiketsu yanchamaru 3, and I think it's the best of the series.
Has a mario hack under the name "super mario 14", basically the same game but switches the protag's head for Mario's (hilarious because you can still see Yanchamaru's head when you do certain moves like sliding)
