Oh, yeah, myhouse. I think it's a cool / impressive pk3 but because I did not stumble upon it organically and know about it through the cultural osmosis, it's ruined before I even got to start it. Now I know it's a "mindfuck" or "creepy" wad and I'm just pre-emptively bored, through no fault of the pk3 itself.

What truly makes a classic / throwback fps "click" for you?
For me it's a combination of
-Meaty weapons. A mix of real world guns (preferably from past decades that you see in 1980s / 1990s action movies) and some sci-fi-ish or hacked together schizo tech guns like the Half Life science weapons or the microwave gun from SoF .
-"Lived in" feel, levels that feel like the thing they're meant to depict. Fuckin' love Half Life 1 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein for this, the areas feel like they are filling a real purpose within the game's universe and not just pipes to go through. Even some DOOM techbases apply. The BAD example is Quake 2, it's all just... generic base? Really hard to even tell individual area apart. Serious Sam style "levels" also turn me off big time.
-Fanservice. We all love some good booba. Except the gays.
-Movement that feels "snappy". Fast is one thing, but it's extremely important to nail that feeling of being in control and if the game is in 3d space, being able to actually jump worth a damn, it can and honestly I prefer when it's a bit gamey like Half Life, RTCW or STALKER. The feeling of being in control of your momentum and being able to parkour around the maps.

What are you guys' priorities / desires from an FPS ?

There's absolutely nothing wrong in being a coomer. After all,Douk, Shadow Warrior etc had a good measure of eye candy and t&a mixed in, it's almost like coomerism and creativity goes hand in hand (see also ; comic books)

Nice! I'd love to see more pin-up poster like Shelly for sure haha. Like cop-like with aviator sunglasses, a motorbike and playing with her baton.

Oh and an open question to the thread :
I remember playing some wad in the 2010s that had a lot of fairly detailed city maps, new weapons and enemies, particularly remember like zombiemen with rocket launchers and big mechs but the overall "style" was still "Doomy" . I feel like there were fairly little standard doom enemies but they weren't totally absent either.

Are there even any maintenance workers / warehouse men etc in Black Mesa Research Facility. Aside from the marines / black ops it seems that every worker is a scientist or a barney / otis and you don't see other types of blue collar folk around the place at all. And a ton of warehouses but not a single forklift (to my recollection) . Or do the HEV suit sciencemen do all the maintenance work / material handling that robots don't?

I want quasi-military style fps similar to first soldier of fortune where it flirts with realism in thematic and "vibe" and has (mostly) real world guns etc but it can be played like a retro shooter and can also include things that are not 100% realism. Kinda like return toe castle wolfenstein, soldier of fortune 1, Half Life, Blood 2 (inb4 Blood 2 shit, it has it's problems I know) etc.
