Is there anything I should know before playing Baldur's Gate for the first time? I've never played D&D so I don't know how anything works. Are all of the classes viable? Do choices matter? Can I be evil as heck?

Also what mods, if any, should I use on my first play through? I'd be interested in a high resolution mod at least, if there is one.

Tried a cleric out, was good for a first run.
Eventually you have access to so many buffs that with sidequests it feels alittle OP.

Any suggestions for a mage/cleric mix?
