I'm not sure... but I don't particularly care about this, and you shouldn't either. I mean, was it the most legit and skillful way to do it? No... but did you do it? Yes, you did, no codes or glitches, just this resource that any video game has, if you go and pause just in the right time to react to some attack and dodge it, despite not pausing with an intention to do so... did you cheat? No, so stop it.

P.S. I want to congratulate you on that Ristar run aswell, you did it, don't let anyone tell you that it doesn't count, because only you know how hard it was and what it took, be more carefree, please.

>cinematic platformers are what helped make the current culture with video games that are more like movies and take hours to complete while you "experience" them instead of going out of your way to "beat" them like back then

change my mind

So... is RetroArch for zoomers and the people who hate it are just boomers who can only use the standalone emulators they already know, or is RetroArch for boomers who know computers and zoomers hate if because they're iliterate? I keep getting confused over what's the case.

I love RetroArch by the way, and in my personal case, I'm a zoomer, but I've heard both of these narratives before and it confuses me somewhat.

It's simple:
Back then most people chose PS1 because they weren't retarded, many still chose N64 because they were retarded tendies, and few chose the Saturn because why would you choose it at all?
Now most people still chose PS1 because they aren't retarded, many still chose N64 because they are retarded tendies, and few chose the Saturn because why would you chose it at all?
It's not rocket science.

>What is the best way of going about doing this?
I don't know, but it should have a limit of 1 title per franchise, or else 10% of it will be different Mario titles, another 10% will be Zelda, another 10% will be Metroid, and so on... lists like this do always have the issue where things that just so happen to have more fans will always get the top spots, but in video games it's worse because the same popular things have dozen of titles for its fans to vote for them all and flood the thing for everyone, which sucks and makes it all so boring.

It's simple really, people here customize their UI on RetroArch for the same reason that even the people that are old, and/or technology illiterate, will change the desktop wallpaper on their PC or laptop, since Windows 95. While there are those that don't feel the need, a lot of people enjoy to give the things they use a little personality that fits their liking for when they use RetroArch's UI.

I'm not blaming you, don't worry. I'm just blaming the people responsible for the list in general, it's just so boring, the same thing every single time...

>>10494720
I get that, and I'm not at all surprised, I'm just a bit disappointed because it's boring. I mean, we all have our favorite franchises, but even then I wouldn't want a single one of my favorite series to have 2, 3 or even 4 titles in a list like this, I'd like to see a bunch of other good series I'm fond of represented, having 90% of these lists always be the same titles from the same IPs is boring.

Would SMW actually be significantly more fun if I prevented myself from ever turning around to play previous levels and only just went forward depending on which path I took?

What makes Tenchu 1 the best? I'm asking this from the perspective of someone who has never played the series. To me three just looks like the more refined and polished of the games. Is it purely atmosphere?

I feel Puyo Puyo alone might not be enough to sustain a thread. How about we make it about all retro puzzle games instead?
