Halo 2 > Halo: CE
I preferred the movement, levels, and how the second game has an actual story. CE felt sluggish, as you lumbered your way across samey levels. 2 has linear levels, but they don't copypaste as much as CE, and movement more than makes up for it.

Also I wouldn't consider Halo to be "there" in today's landscape due to how 343 has fucked up their launches. "Master Chief" in Fortnite isn't a good argument for popularity. El Chapulin Colorado is in Fortnite too, with people outside of LATAM saying "who the fuck is this guy?".
