Why does Quake 2 insist in filtered textures? I read that putting gl_texturemode gl_linear or gl_linear_mipmap_linear in the autoexec or console would make them pixelated even in OpenGL, but it just stays the same. Only software has unfiltered textures but it has none of the lighting goodness.

Oh, and starcraft of course. They did a couple patches in the years it and the expansions came out, but they quickly left it alone, and the players just had to deal with the balance, and it turned out to be pretty darn good.

Nowadays, people would just whine about shit and the devs would patch shit back and forth like they do in TF2 and Overwatch and all that shit.

No just 'git gud'.
