It's this room, the pic is from an emulator but on real hardware it feels like the real deal because the texture filtering is all blocky with mario 64-esque compression and the lighting is flat/bright. You can also see that the ground texture is the same for the walls and ceiling.

Beta Deku Tree is very strange indeed, I hate that people call it the wood temple when the layout is literally identical to the deku tree, the only difference is that this particular room looks like it goes around the main hub.

there's actually envoirmental maps in the final game that are nothing but pitch black except for the area around Link, so I guess that was their idea of simulating night early in development.
