/vr/ - Retro Games

I loved this game, but I never cleared it. I always got stuck in the 7th temple. I would just need to go in one last room, but I could never get inside there. Tried again last year or something, but I couldn't figure it out. And on principle I won't check walkthroughs.

LA is the only Zelda game I haven't beaten except for Zelda 2.

I'm playing through Link to the Past and Link's Awakening back to back, and I have to say, I'm getting much much more out of Link's awakening. I'm not entirely sure what it is, or how objective I'm being, but the game just feels so much more alive. It has a sense of fun and adventure and warmth that Link to the Past just didn't. for some reason everything in LTTP felt sort of cold and the world itself felt claustrophobic, I think maybe the beginning of the 16-bit era had this sense of being trapped between suspension of disbelief and literalness that made things feel sort of awkward and plasticy.

Which do you guys prefer and why?

My friend told me this about a year ago; I thought he was playing and made a sarcastic reply about seeing the secret picture of Marin naked, and then he told me to look it up. Holy shit man, it was exactly the kind of stuff you would hear in the schoolyard and it actually works.
