I'm sometimes more impressed by great copiers than I am the original artists just because of how many subtle idiosyncrasies that have to be preserved in order to successfully fool people. There's an artist who goes by Blue The Bone who does pitch perfect imitations of 80s anime. You could easily be fooled into thinking you're looking at a screenshot from an anime from the late 80s or early 90s that you didn't know existed. She even does animation.
