To be honest i'm still new to the world of RPGs, but albeit I played the previous FF titles like the FF6 using a GBA emulator on mobile but I never really got to finish any RPGs due to my anhedonic brain that makes me want to delete the game and play again and this cycle just repeats over and over again. I never had a console back then except for the GBA back when I was six (only played the arcade ones because I was too young to understand such things) and the PSP back in 3rd grade. Nonetheless I made a lot of fun playing videogames on both of those handheld consoles as a kid. I never got to play RPGs on those both consoles though until later in life when I had my first phone that I instantly downloaded a GBA emulator and now my recent $100 phone is powerful enough to run PS1,GBA, PSP (with constant frame drops), DS, and some more.

Back to the main topic, I've played the FF8 but only for a few hours since i'm still currently focused on beating FF7 (currently on disc 2 with 40+ hours of solid playtime) because like I said above you need to really be in depth on FF8 because of it's gameplay. Nevertheless I loved FF8 more than FF7 if it wasn't because of it's brain-damaging junction system.
