well, most CRTs only have one set of Component/RGB inputs so if you have multiple systems that you want to make use of its better to have a passive ( or active) switcher.

that way you save "time" by not having to reconnect something whatever you want to play it.

and you save "money" by not damaging the inputs and connectors with constant wear and tear.

if cable management makes you vomit... than you might have some kind of medical condition.
