It is technically 800x240p, but almost everything uses it in pixel doubled mode.
The SM64 decomp port has an optional true 800px mode which looks noticeably sharper but is still visibly not using antialiasing.
The trained eye can also see that the screen door effect is much stronger vertically than horizontally on the 3DS, because of the pixels are denser horizontally. I kinda like it, it gives a mild scanline-like effect.

Yeah, the 2:1 scaling makes it look like the 3DS has scanlines. I prefer the 2DS for this reason. It's the only model that does 1:1 scaling

In 2D mode the internal resolution is 400x240, but the screen resolution is still 800x240. We’re talking actual physical pixel structure here. In 3D mode the extra horizontal pixels are used in tandem with the parallax barrier to create the illusion of a proper pixel grid, along with the 3D of course.
