I personally feel that FF7 is the worst FF game I have ever played (if you don't count Mystic Quest) and that FF6 is the best FF game that I have ever played (if you do not count Tactics), I have played all of the FF games 1-10 except for 8, FF7 is by far the worst story out of the games I played and by far the worst characters outside of 1&2, maybe my expectations were too high since the masterpiece that is 6 was where the bar was at when it was released but it was the most disappointed I have ever been with a video game aside from the first TMNT game on the NES

In comparison yes, Cross is a deep and layered story, Trigger is pretty basic and straightforward, it's akin to the difference between a children's book and young adult fiction
