I played fighting games on "real" Japanese arcade parts. The kicker is I didn't even know it at the time.
I owned one of these controllers: the Actlabs Arcade Rex.

These use the same switches used by Seimitsu during the time period: the Tokai MM9. With a 24mm button plunger. 24mm buttons were used on older Japanese cabinets during the 80s and early 90s and the AES controller.
The lever is a clone of the same lever found in the Neo Geo AES controller, and is a variant of the design used in the LS-33.
The balltop is a 30mm size just like the AES.

When I owned this stick I didn't appreciate it and wished I had the "real thing" in the form of a MAS stick.

ArcadeREX for PlayStation.
Nice clicky Japanese style arcade stick. Buttons are clicky too.
The stick has a short, tight throw. Would probably be very nice for shmups.
