What did you guys think of this game?
Kusoge or a challenging and interesting take on the Doom formula, set in the very depths of the dark jungle of Congo?

Congo: The Movie: The Lost City of Zinj: The Video Game

It's a mediocre FPS with limited continues and mechanics such as "fever" (you randomly get fever and the screen turns yellow-ish and the image swings, kinda like when Yoshi gets drunken on Yoshi's Island, except not fun at all in this game), oh and the controls get inverted too.
The levels, at least the ones I could manage to play, were all set in the jungle, there was no variation between them.
Something positive I'll say about this game is that the map, which is on the bottom corner of the screen, draws a yellow line as you walk (I wonder if it's piss? fever piss) so that you can see where you have already been, but it's not really that helpful because the levels are full of hidden paths you need to take that aren't shown on the map.
It's basically a bad FPS; not awful or anything, but bad. Still worth checking out for the weirdness, and the intro FMV is kind of actually scary.

OP never mentioned anything about the game being good.

Congo is pretty obscure, Saturn-exclusive FPS based on the Congo movie (as you can see on the title), but it's actually a separate story from the movie, you're some fat nigga lost in the congo shooting giant mosquitos, spiders, chameleons, totems, and of course big apes.

It has a few interesting ideas, for example a yellow line that tracks your steps on the map, so you can see where you've already been.
However it has also bad ideas, like a "fever status" that makes the screen turn yellow-ish, and the camera moving side to side, and while you're under the effect you can't see the map either.

The intro FMV is actually kind of scary.

How about bad FPS games in general?

I love this game, you're a fat nigger with malaria in the middle of the congo jungle and you must make your way through a maze of picelated green and brown pixelated poilygons while dozens of prerendered 2D sprites of gigantic insects and wild jungle animals jump at you.
Every now and then you'll get the fever and your vision as well as your controlls get fucked up for a while, just endure it.

It's such a frustrating and shitty game, but it's good if you want to torture yourself with an agoraphobic Doom clone set in the middle of the jungle hell.
