There's a very vocal minority here on /vr/ that get upset that Sega started making games on Nintendo systems.

Playing Pic related ....

Is Sonic for GBA true to the original? The movement feels very stiff. Did Sonic 1 not have momentum like Sonic 3&K did?

Sonic Advance for the GBA maintained the original's sense of momentum, because it was a port of the original Sonic Pocket Adventure engine.

Sonic Advance 2 for the GBA had stiff movement and no momentum, because it was a ground-up reworking based around the GBA exclusive Hedgehog engine.

What about Sonic the Hedgehog? Am I wasting my time?

The admin will never allow it because the mod here has a strict hatred of Sega/Sonic games on Nintendo systems.

I am generally against emulation for reasons other than the preservation of video games.

One day I hope that there will be a nearly 100% stable Saturn Emulator with a massive increase in game compatibility and a much greater ease of use.

When that day comes, I will emulate it.

Speaking of lost code however, apparently they had lost the source code for the original Sonic the Hedgehog, so when they ported it to the GBA, they had to rebuild it from the ground up, and well, they failed pretty hard.

What amazes me is how they could actually deem it fit for release. It would have just taken 30 seconds of playtesting for someone to say "Buddy, I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me that this isn't actually going to be a thing that you can buy in a store."
