Just because the battles are the meat in the RPG sandwich doesn't mean they can't get monotonous or redundant at times. I don't want to eliminate them entirely but it sure as fuck was nice to be able to toggle them on and off at times to explore freely.

They let you turn off random encounters in VI and X, too. If they're giving you the option it's because they acknowledge it might be useful

>Anything Matrix beyond the first film and Animatrix is also bad

I unironically enjoy the sequels and didn't hate Path of Neo either though I admit they're all deeply flawed. The sequels have high highs but deteriorate into cringy b-tier sci-fi far too often which the 1st movie managed not to do and

Path of Neo should have been the tie-in game to begin with. Making a game based around fucking Niobe instead of the star of the film with all the cool powers was retarded, it's like if they released a Spider-Man game where you played as Mary Jane. I Know that the idea was to supplement the main story but people don't buy tie-in games for deep lore and side characters, they want to play through the favorite parts of the movie. There was no part of Enter the Matrix when I thought "wow, I'm glad we got to see what Niobe was doing instead of being Neo, this sewer level is sooo much more interesting than the Burly Brawl or the Chateau fight"
