Pokemon Orange is pretty great for this, in my opinion. I typically hate Pokemon romhacks, including Prism and (appropriately titled) Brown, regardless that those two in particular have some pretty cool things about them.

>Did people just pack up their systems, go to friends houses, and play games like that?
yes
or youd bring games
>Was it inconvenient?
no it was fucking awesome
>What were the go-to games for things like this?
depends on the system
usually multiplayer games, but i definitely beat more than a few single-player games with buddies all taking turns after dying
genesis it was usually SoR or MK or SF2 etc
one dude bought a N64 so wed play goldeneye, smash, MK etc

online sucks shit
sure its fun to call randoms online niggrfaggots, but thats literally what imageboards are for
i like to bully you zoomer faggots a lot, cuz its fun and for the most part, you deserve it
but when i think about growing up never playing vidya on a couch with your buddies, i feel only pity

Not only did it kill FF7, but it also killed Sega. Two birds stoned at once.

Games don't age, they are preserved in time from the moment that they are released. What changes is how we perceive them in relation to games released before and after them.

I like having physical copies of my favorite ps1 games, but I don't go out of my way to buy a physical copy of every game ever made. If I see a good deal on a good game I might buy it. Tbh though, the last few games I've bought all stopped working at some point when playing through them and I'm mad as fuck about it. Idk if I will be buying anymore because of it.
