All of them are good, the only difference is in aesthetics and the startup intro animation. I'm partial to the US and PAL units because they have a sound effect that works so great with the animation.

Japanese launch models also have kickass double led lights, but they are annoying to take apart since half the unit is on the top case.

Saturn boot, at least the English one, was closer to it in my opinion. It lacked the bass (which you can argue that it defined THX better), but in exchange it had the world EXPLODE in your face.

Playstation effect was a glorified THX sound, while the Saturn made your TV do an explosion in reverse.

Saturn boot-up was way better IMO. Playstation one was just a THX sound effect with two triangles falling into space. The friggin Super Nintendo could've done that.

On the Saturn, you have your TV explode into glass pieces that float around in space and then form the Saturn logo in a blinding lens flare effect.

Man, the Saturn bootup was so much better than the Sony one. The Playstation had two triangles moving a bit on a diamond. The Saturn had your TV reverse-explode into billion flying fragments that all piled together to form a screen-blinding Saturn logo.

And don't get me started on how much better the Saturn cd player was, holy shit.
