I saw a vid on tiny colored CRTs (pic related) and it gave me this autistic idea. What if we found a way to make CRTs again, but we make the tubes tiny to reduce the cost? Make the shadowmask the size of a regular CRT, cut the tube into a perfect square, stack the tubes into a grid and link them together to make one bigger screen. Essentially it could be a frame that has a bunch of tiny CRTs plugged in like a lightbulb to make a bigger screen
There would be a lot of advantages to this:
>manufacturing would be much cheaper than a regular size tube
>Shipping would be far easier
>if you get burn-in or one stops working, you can just swap the bad tube out with a new one
>probably much safer to work with comparatively to a regular tube
>make any size or aspect ratio screen
>could probably fit the tubes and electronics into a much thinner case giving you a "flatscreen" CRT.

Do you guys think its a good idea?
