its important to remember that games are usually team endeavors and someone may do very good work for a game that ends up being bad.

As fond as I am for the N64, the thing that always annoyed the hell out of me about it was the utter dearth of RPGs on the system. The PS1 was an RPG fan's wet dream and there was lots of good stuff happening on the PC as well. Even the Sega Saturn was a better system for RPGs than the N64. Me and other kids used to lie to ourselves and say that Zelda was an RPG just so we could pretend that the genre wasn't a lost cause on the system.

Nintendo could have put Pokemon or Mother on the N64 but Mother 64 got canceled, and Nintendo only put spinoffs and party games for Pokemon on the system. It's a real shame.

I'm not sure if its just novelty but N64 RPGs interest the hell out of me. They feel like some weird middle step between SNES and PSX RPGs.
