Actually not terrible, and runs about as well as the original did on PS1 - admittedly chuggy in places but perfectly playable. The radio is heavily cut down, and the entirety of Liberty is 3 'levels' for each island, but honestly great for the system/2d GTA. It's its own story, serving as a 'prequel' to 3, but a lot of GTA3 stuff made it like hidden packages, hideouts/saving, onfoot controls being directional with sprinting (the onfoot sprites being nicely animated for stuff like melee combat). Cars can even tilt on turning, trucks can tip over under their own weight, and a decent ram causes car flips.

Damn comfy - Chinatown Wars is a better game but time and expectations of a GBA game have been nicely kind to it.
