also it's worth mentioning you can't get two sims gay married in ts1 (unless there's a hacked object that can do it, idk), you can only ask them to move in. there are "joined unions" in ts2 which are virtually identical to regular marriages but you can turn them into the latter with a mod by twojeffs. after that point the series progressively got more pozzed as society went off the deep end, but ea and maxis have always been californian so who cares lol

i think ea just hates their "legacy" game portfolio and would prefer to forget it exists in favor of selling you their special modern day brand of digital aids, but they sell stuff like sc2k, 3k, 4 and spore on gog, so fuck if i know.
