Not quite. Factor 5 took the PC version and overhauled the controls, combat, and made a bunch of tweaks to the level design. They also completely replaced the lighting system and added a fancy new particle system. The problem with Infernal Machine N64 is that Lucasarts fucked them over and reallocated most of the team to work on Battle for Naboo instead, even though Infernal Machine was their passion project.

What this means is that Infernal Machine N64 was largely developed by one person who could kinda code and kinda animate and kinda fix bugs -- and as a result is one of the buggiest games on the N64. It crashes unacceptably often on real hardware, and is full of little glitches. But if you look past that, it's a really solid game that is dramatically more fun than the PC version, and it earned decent 8/10 reviews from UK publications that got their hands on the PAL version which never got officially released. (Although it leaked a few years back as part of the THQ liquidation.)

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is one of the N64's most underrated games.

Discuss.
