While some people complain that there's supposedly no hints for the blue gem in Crash 2, if you return to Turtle Woods after having already obtained the clear gem for breaking all the boxes, the box counter at the end of the level will still be there (in all other levels it disappears after the box gem is already collected) with the counter saying "n/0" (with n being the number of boxes broken) signifying that you have to have broken 0/0 boxes to make a gem appear.

Minor, but it drives me nuts when people say the blue gem has no hints, and it's so easy to prove them wrong.
