There's a pirated/hacked version where enemies deal miniscule amounts of damage. If the game isn't pirated/hacked, all enemies can four-hit kill the player starting from Stage 4.

Congratulations my friend, you've truly beat an NES classic. Out of curiosity, what method did you use to defeat the Grim Reaper with the Holy Water?

It took a lot more digging of links that weren't even labeled as relevance, but I think I found what you were looking for.

https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Akumaj%C5%8D_Dracula:_Akuma_no_Chi_Chi_no_Akumu

>Akumajō Dorakyura: Akuma no Chi, Chi no Akumu (悪魔城ドラキュラ:悪魔の血 血の悪夢 lit. "Demon Castle Dracula: Blood of Demons, Nightmare of Blood"?) is a Castlevania novel published in the Japanese magazine LOG OUT from 1992 to 1995.

>The story was written by Ichiro Tezuka and illustrated by Masaki Takahashi. It was originally intended to be a novelization of Super Castlevania IV but the author decided to create an original story.

>The first six issues of the story were released in novelized form in 1994. Because the serialized magazine eventually suspended publication, this novel was discontinued.

That's a side novel that was actively made into a separate story, not Super Castlevania IV, and was never even finished. This basically has no proper connection to the rest of the series, much like the manga about a random Belmont descendant trying to play Simon in a movie only to end up fighting Dracula for real.

In other words, Simon is canonically not a dhampir in the actual Castlevania series.

The X68000 version lets you see the full screen, whereas the PSX version obscures 15-20% of the screen with the HUD. The X68000 version also has working versions of the Stage 5 clock and Stage 7 seasonal painting, and the hitboxes are reportedly better as well.

I want to say III since it has virtually everything and handles it well to very well, but every time I play it something or other tends to aggravate me. With that in mind, my favorites (enjoy the most whenever I play) are I and X68000.

I wish the series would have kept this aesthetic, not that it matters to me since I haven't enjoyed a CastleVania besides the first and fourth one.

One series generates the most flaming and butthurt on this board. Surprisingly, it's not Final Fantasy, Nintendo games, or even Treasure. It's Castlevania. What is the deal with Castlevania threads?

Why that of all threads does this series generate the most flaming and butthurt? Surprisingly it's not Final Fantasy, Nintendo-related games, or Sonic. It's Castlevania.

What is the deal with Castlevania threads?

The same basic team worked on all three NES titles, with a few people added or removed. Only two of the devs stayed in gaming, and as such we have the most info on them. Artist Kochi Ogawa, and composer Kinuyo Yamashita. Ogawa ended up working for Square and was a planner for Parasite Eve. Yamashita lives in the states, and has been interviewed, but she does not seem to give any answers. It seems she didn't even interact with the team much, merely composed music for the game. Ogawa has a twitter and he might be more forthcoming with information.

Hi /vr/ can you recommend me some games that play similar to the original x68000 Castlevania game? example: Slow 2d platforming, avoiding traps, progressively more difficult.

What's the best way to play Castlevania: Rondo of Blood? I got the original game to work on a pcengine emulator, but the patcher for the english version won't work for whatever reason. Is the PSP one any good?
